counterpoint music

Spare me your rant, take me to the music download page!

I created this site to showcase my songs.

It first went online in 2006 and had links to the same set of songs since. So I thought it's about time to come up with a new set of more recent music. The old stuff is still there.
During the past years, I discovered a lot of interesting music on the internet and I wouldn't have found this music without the net. Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, just to name a few. Since I am very picky regarding music taste, this has become a great resource for me to find new music.

Until recently, I haven't been very interested in promoting my songs. It dawned on me though that if more "homestudio" recordists would go public this way, my chances to discover more great music would be even better. So, here's my share . . .

I'm not a HTML programmer and by all means I don't want to become one. So these pages won't get nominated for any kind of design award, that's for sure.

The navigation should be pretty self-explanatory. I'm offering a couple of my songs for download and streaming on the "Music" page. A little background on what I'm doing (and how) can be found at the "About" page.

See you . . .

Wolfmusic has been featured on a number of blogs lately:

"Wolfmusic is a guy who records quiet, pretty, and moody songs and makes tons of them available for free. And the moniker Wolfmusic is quite appropriate - maybe it's just because the name puts me in the frame of mind, but I could really see these songs as the soundtrack to a midnight trek along snowy paths alongside a wolf." - Charles Olney from Heartache with Hard Work

"His gravelly voice and gentle guitars are a lovely combination. The production quality is excellent, and these could easily be heard on adult contemporary radio. Rock songs that will also appeal to fans of the neo-folk artists, like Sufjan Stevens, but that also carry a Wild West flavor. I'm playing this on the next lonesome desert drive." - Katya Oddio from Blogio Oddio, the Oddio Overplay blog

"... in that addictive Radiohead kind of way. (...) i insist you'll enjoy these tracks." - shan from noise for toaster

"WolfMusic is the project of an amateur musician though the quality sounds nothing of the sort. What you're about to hear is very clean, very well produced original songs. (...) I assure you that you will be hard pressed to find a more cohesive group of songs anywhere. Hear it!" - Jeremy from Kinky Origami

"Fans of REM and Radiohead will enjoy this." - Mike from FreeIndie.com

"'All The Way Back' is his best track offering a unique beat backed with strong keys, lyrics, and a low voice that compliments a unique mixture of music." - Nathaniel from I Guess I'm Floating

"For the most part, though, these are slow, dark, "horizontal" tunes that press on relentlessly, as opposed to building to orgasmic climax (the way that many of the best Radiohead and Arcade Fire songs tend to do)." - Michael from A Plague of Angels
